Our favorite white trash zombie, Angel Crawford, has enough problems of her own, what with dealing with her alcoholic, deadbeat dad, issues with her not-quite boyfriend, the zombie mafia, industrial espionage and evil corporations. Oh, and it’s raining, and won’t let up.

But things get even crazier when a zombie movie starts filming in town, and Angel begins to suspect that it’s not just the plot of the movie that's rotten. Soon she's fighting her way through mud, blood, bullets and intrigue, even as zombies, both real and fake, prowl the streets.

Angel’s been through more than her share of crap, but this time she’s in way over her head. She’ll need plenty of brainpower to fit all the pieces—and body parts—together in order to save herself, her town, and quite possibly the human race.

My Review

I can’t get enough of this series!  I love Angel, our white trash zombie.  I love everything about her as a character.  She’s fantastically flawed, fantastically damaged, and fantastically honest and true to herself.

Marcus, Marcus, Marcus.  The on-again, off-again love interest.  Sometimes I love him, sometimes he annoys me.  In the first book, I loved him, but since then he has been a bit of, well, a tool.  Although we now know a bit more about why he is the way he is, he is still a tool much of the time.  I know he is set up to be The One, but I am not convinced that he is.  Angel has new prospects so I hope he either shapes up or she finds someone who deserves her.

Angel is at her best in this book.  She is at her best now, strong and independent.  She refuses to be pushed around and does what she thinks is best for herself.  There are some family things that happen for her that I can’t talk about (spoilers), but I love that subplot.  It is heartwarming and sweet in its own trashy way!

Things to love…

  • Angel’s strength.  She is secure in herself and refuses to let anyone push her around.
  • The supporting characters.  They are equally as well developed as the main characters and I love that!

Things I wanted more/less of…

  • Marcus and his attitude.  Enough said.

Some Quotastic Goodness

A zombie pretending to be a zombie pretending to be a zombie. Made me dizzy (Loc.962).

Jeez, it’s corporate espionage on steroids. And brains (Loc.1899).

Props to stubborn-bitch-willpower for saving the day (Loc. 2743).

My Recommendation

Yes, yes, yes!  This is a great series!  Zombies, romance, mystery, and hilarity!
